There's quite a few competitors in Forum Software nowadays. I've used forums before any of the popular softwares began to crop up, but I'm relying on them now, to create a genuine forum or site.

I must admit, MyBB is a very nice software, and has excellent easy to install plug ins, and moderation functions comparable to vBulletin. But I also love phpBB's advances permissions systems, and it's customization abilities. And you can usually find a phpBB mod for everything. vBulletin I would take in an instant if it didn't cost so much.

phpBB gets my vote altogether however.

Forumotion get my vote. They prety much will add anything you ask for if others agree that it would be nice.

It's good, but you still need the {myforum}.{forumotion promoter}.{com/net/org}

Usually all free hosts do that, you have to buy a domain.

some don't, but then they use the IP address....

BUT you post from so many diff. IP's., and most of them are not near me.
